LONDON: Australia captain Tim Paine won the toss and put England in to bat in the fifth and final Ashes test at The Oval on Thursday.

Australia, who lead the series 2-1 following their victory in the fourth test at Old Trafford and will retain the Ashes, made two changes, all-rounder Mitchell Marsh coming in for batsman Travis Head and fast bowler Peter Siddle replacing Mitchell Starc.

England made two changes from the team beaten in Manchester last week, fast bowler Chris Woakes and all-rounder Sam Curran replacing batsman Jason Roy and seam bowler Craig Overton.

England: Joe Root (captain), Rory Burns, Joe Denly, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Jonny Bairstow, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Jofra Archer, Stuart Broad, Jack Leach.

Australia: Tim Paine (captain), David Warner, Marcus Harris, Marnus Labuschagne, Steve Smith, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Marsh, Pat Cummins, Peter Siddle, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon.
