HETAUDA: Cameroon’s Dauphins United beat APF Club 1-0 to advance into the last four of the Bhuvarga Cement Martyr’s Memorial Football Tournament-2075 in Hetauda on Sunday.

After a goalless first-half, Dauphins Yanik Owana broke the deadlock in the 79th minute. Despite a much-improved performance in the second half, the departmental team failed to equalise and avoid defeat in an enticing encounter today.

Dauphin’s goalkeeper pulled off a stunning save off APF’s Sudip Sihkrakhar’s volley and prevented the opposition from going ahead in the game.

During a post-match press conference, Dauphins’s manager Ashik Thapa Magar said, though we won the game but failed to meet our own expectations against a disciplined team. “We will display a much-improved performance in the upcoming match,” Thapa added.

Likewise, AFP club head coach Sudip Shrestha said, “We sticked to our tactics but failed to score against a physically superior team, which ultimately cost us the game today.”

Later, Dauphin’s Yanik Owana was declared man of the match and bagged a cash purse of Rs 10,000.
