Nepali Army is organising the fourth edition of the CoAS Open Marathon next month in Kathmandu.

The annual tournament features five events — open marathon, half marathon, 10km race for Nepali Army officers and military attaches, 5km race for Sainik Awasiya Mahavidhyalaya students and 5km walkathon, informed Shashi Kiran Rayamajhi, chief of Nepali Army Physical and Sports Centre at a press meet today.

The organisers have increased the prize money in all events. The winner in marathon will receive Rs 125,000 along with Pulsar motorcycle, while the runner-up will get Rs 65,000 and third placed athlete will earn Rs 35,000.

Likewise, athletes finishing from fourth to seventh will get Rs 25,000, Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.

Top three athletes in half marathon’s open women and below-45 men events will receive Rs 50,000, Rs 35,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively, while the winners in above-45 women section will get Rs 40,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

Top three winners in other events will also get cash prizes.
