Kathmandu, March 25

Dipesh Dhami of Nepal APF Club and Prince Dahal of Silk Group advanced to the men’s singles last 16 of the 15th Krishna Mohan Memorial Nationwide Open Badminton Tournament here today.

Dhami defeated Myagdi’s Bijay Baniya 21-8, 21-8, while Dahal beat Indra Mahata of APF 21-12, 21-10. Likewise, Pemba Shepa, Gautam Singh Kathayat, Sudip Sedhai, Niranjan Devkota, Bijit Thapa Magar, Sunil Joshi, Nir Bikram Devkota and Sajan Krishna Tamrakar made it to the pre-quarters. Also, Praful Maharjan, Diwas Shankar, Rukesh Maharjan, Deepak Bohara, Bishnu Katuwal and Jeevan Acharya advanced to the last 16.

A total of 287 players are taking part in the annual tournament organised by Nepal APF Sports Department in memory of IGP Krishna Mohan Shrestha. The tournament features singles, doubles, mixed doubles, U-17 and veteran events.

In the 11th Sahabir Memorial Open Lawn Tennis Tournament, Kamal Bhandari defeated Chhewang Lama and Pranav Khanal beat Gaurav Shahi by identical scores of 6-0, 6-1 to make it to the men’s singles quarter-finals.

Samyak Bajracharya, Jitendra Pariyar, Anil Shahi, Ivanhoe Lissanevitch and Santosh Khatri also advanced to the last eight.

In women’s section, Bhagawati BK entered the semi-finals with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Indrakala Shrestha.Likewise, Keshar Gurung and Chandra Thapa made it to the semi-finals in inter-governmental service section.

In the IGP sixth National Open Women’s Volleyball Tournament, Nepal APF Club and New Diamond Academy registered victories.

APF defeated Tribhuvan Army Club 25-17, 25-13, 25-20, while NDA beat Nepal Police Club 25-23, 14-25, 25-15, 25-15.
