COLOMBO: England beat Sri Lanka by 42 runs in the third and final test in Colombo on Monday to complete a 3-0 series sweep.

Kusal Mendis (86) and Roshen Silva (65) scored a bulk of the runs for the hosts, who had conceded a 96-run first innings lead and resumed the day on 53-4.

Spin duo of Moeen Ali (4-92) and Jack Leach (4-72) shared eight wickets between them to ensure England became just the third team to win a test series 3-0 in Sri Lanka.
