England’s Mako Vunipola self-isolating amid coronavirus fears with Italy fixture in doubt

England’s Mako Vunipola has been ruled out of Saturday’s Six Nations fixture against Wales amid growing concerns over the global spread of coronavirus. The Saracens prop had been due to be train with the national squad in Bagshot but is now self isolating at home on the advice of team doctors.

Vunipola has been in Tonga for family reasons and flew back to England at the weekend via Hong Kong. The England management say he is showing no coronavirus symptoms but, after discovering that Vunipola had stopped over in Hong Kong, stood him down from the squad before he reported back in. An England spokesperson said: “Mako Vunipola is not in the camp on medical grounds. He is not sick but it is a precaution.”
