The EPL frenzy is back!
Everest Premier League Ltd announced the dates for the Fourth Everest Premier League (EPL) T20 Cricket Tournament on August 12, 2019.
The fourth edition of the tournament has been scheduled between February 29 – March 14, 2020.
According to event organizers, the event was earlier scheduled for December 2020 but was postponed to February due to favorable spring weather at that time.
The Everest Premier League is Nepal’s most-loved league because of the presence of international players and the way the event is managed and conducted.
Last year, the event included big cricket names such as Babar Hayat, Kevin O’Brien, Mohammad Naveed, Paul Van Meekeren, Paul Sterling, Roelof van der Merwe and Richard Levi.
In order to increase the fandom among local audience and draw more spectators to the stadium, the organizers have scheduled the matches over three weekends.
The organizers have also made it mandatory to include at least one big-name from international cricket as Iconic Player, which must be from test-playing nations.
EPL Organizers have already began talks with the International Cricket Council to facilitate the same.
“It is our priority to contribute to the development of cricket in Nepal. We are trying to incorporate international expertise, whether that is in ground operations ground entertainment, or the broadcast to make the event bigger. The inclusion of Iconic Players shall ensure that some big names in international cricket feature this season. The event will be a class apart and is sure to give viewers a spectacular event, the likes of which they have only seen in international leagues,” said Aamir Akhtar, EPL Managing Director Aamir
