FNCCI urges SAARC employers for investment

Kathmandu, February 11

Chairman of the Employers Council of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chandra Prasad Dhakal, has called on employers and investors of the SAARC region to invest in Nepal.

In his address at the eighth meeting of the South Asian Forum of Employers that kicked off in New Delhi today, he said that Nepal has guaranteed appropriate laws related to labour and social security, which have led to the establishment of cordial relation between employers and workers and the political atmosphere is also suitable for the same.

Dhakal, who is also the FNCCI vice-president, said the investment climate in Nepal was better at present with the establishment of a stable government in the aftermath of a long political transition.

He also urged foreign investors to invest in Nepal’s agriculture, tourism, energy and service sectors.

On the occasion, he invited investors from the SAARC region to the investment summit that Nepal is hosting next month and to identify better and probable areas for investment.

He added that the government of Nepal was committed to building an investment-friendly atmosphere for foreign investors.

Dhakal was of the view that investors and employers in South Asia could reap benefits in a large scale from such types of forums, adding that the country has both challenges and opportunities in the investment sector.

During the three-day event, the participants will try their best to determine their challenges and find solutions to those challenges, said Dhakal from New Delhi.
