Prime minister inspects progress of big projects through action room

Kathmandu, October 23

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today inspected the work progress of different infrastructure projects through the ‘action room’ at the Office of Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, in Singha Durbar through video conference.

PM Oli’s inspection of National Pride Projects has come at the time when the action room at Prime Minister’s Office had been criticised for remaining defunct.

Among others, Oli took updates of the progress made in Pokhara International Airport, Bhairahawa International Airport, Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, Bheri Babai Diversion Project, Rani Jamara Irrigation Project and Sikta Irrigation Project.

Through video conference, PM talked to chiefs of these projects and directed them to complete the projects on time, informed Kundan Aryal, press adviser to the prime minister.

The video conference was also attended by different Cabinet ministers, including Minister for Finance Yuba Raj Khatiwada and Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai.

Inaugurated on May 29, the action room has a 70-inch HD display, speaker and tracking equipment with auto-focus system.

The action room was installed at the Prime Ministers’ Office in a bid to take note of problems faced by the provincial governments, progress in projects and address any problems immediately.

Along with holding meetings with chief ministers of different provinces, the action room is supposed to carry out real-time monitoring of development projects across the country.

As most of the projects face problems during construction or the implementation phase, PM Oli had set up the action room to promptly address such issues facing the projects.
