South Asian Bodybuilding next week

Kathmandu, July 12

The 12th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship is slated for July 18-21 here at the Nepal Academy hall.

A total of 130 bodybuilders and officials will take part in the championship which will be organised by South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation under the auspices of Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, informed the organisers at a press meet today.

Apart from that, President of South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation Datuk Paul Chua will also attend the championship to be officiated by four judges from Thailand Bodybuilding Association.

The Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association is fielding 23 players and five officials in fitness physiques, athletics physiques and sports physiques in men’s section and athletics physiques and model physiques in women’s category, informed Dinesh Rajbhandari, Spokesperson and Vice-President of Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association.

The estimated budget of the championship is Rs 10.36 million and the National Sports Council has allocated one million rupees for the event. “We are thankful to the Nepal government for providing us with the amount for the championship,” said Rajesh Babu Shrestha, President of Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association. “We have raised the remaining budget from sponsors and supporters.”

Nepal Bodybuilding and Fitness Association is hosting the championship for the second time and it has aimed at organising the Asian Championship in future. “We are planning to host the Asian Bodybuilding Championship which will be participated in by 450 athletes and officials from more than 40 countries,” Shrestha added.
