KATHMANDU: Hulas Kathmandu Royal and Pokhara Paltan have secured wins during the Namaste Pokhara Premier League played at the Pokhara Rangasala in Pokhara Metropolis, on Monday.

Biratnagar Titans skippered by Sandeep Lamichanne won the toss and elected to bat first and posted a decent 149/7 in their allotted 20 overs. However, the Hulas Kathmandu Royal cantered to victory by five wickets and four balls to spare.

Foreign recruit Indian batsman Gaurav Tomar played match-winning innings of 66 runs off 46 balls which included six fours and three sixes.

Royals captain Gyanendra Malla contributed 17 runs and opener Amit Shrestha notched 35 runs with six hits to the fence. Shahab Alam was the pick of the Titans bowlers with 4-2-21-2.

Titans foreign recruit Pakistani allrounder Muhammad Zaid Alam hit blistering 67 runs off just 47 deliveries studded with seven fours and four towering sixes before nicking behind to keeper.

Sunil Dhamala and Rajesh Pulami Magar contributed 30 runs each in the losing cause. Royals bowlers Susan Bhari, Basanta Regmi and Gaurav Tomar chipped in with two wickets each.

Later, Royals Gaurav Tomar was adjudged as man of the match for his match-winning performance today.

The home team Pokhara Paltan faltered Chitwan Rhinos by five wickets and 16 balls to spare.

Chitwan Rhinos captain Paras Khadka won the toss and opted to bat first and mustered 140/5 in 20 overs. Pokhara Paltan rode on their foreign recruit Indian all-rounder Ravi Inder Singh’s belligerent half-century to register a victory in front of the packed home crowd.

Skipper Paras Khaka made 44 runs off 32 balls with three fours and three sixes before falling to Bhusal caught by Rohit Paudel in the deep midwicket. Sunny Patel remained not out on 46 runs in just 27 balls with three fours and three sixes.

Bikram Bhusal picked up two Rhinos wickets while veteran Mahaboob Alam, Mohammad Naveed, Sarad Vesawkar bagged a wicket each.

In reply, the home team made a disastrous start as they lost their openers for golden ducks inside two overs.

Man of the match Ravi Inder Singh and Rohit Paudel shared 78 runs partnership for the third wicket before the latter was caught and bowled by veteran Shakti Gauchan in the 11th over.

Vesawkar joined Singh in the middle requiring 62 runs from 54 balls with six wickets in hand. However, Vesawkar fell after playing a whirlwind inning of 37 runs off just 20 balls with three fours and sixes.

Karan KC took two quick wickets of paltan’s mainstay Vesawkar and Singh in two consecutive balls, with the match all but over.

KC took three wickets while Sunny Patel and Shakti Gauchan chipped in with a wicket each.

Meanwhile, Butwal Blasters tops the six-team table with four points, a better run rate to Pokhara Paltan and Kathmandu Royals.
