SUNSARI: The ANFA Academy Dharan won the title of first Province-level U-14 ANFA Academy Cup Football Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Morang’s Embryo Academy here on Saturday.
Ayush Gurung scored the solitary goal of the tournament final organised by ANFA Academy Management Committee, Dharan at ANFA Ground in Dharan Sub-Metropolitan City-17 today.
ANFA Academy had the opportunity to double their lead when they were awarded a penalty after the Embryo defenders fouled inside the D-box. However, ANFA failed to convert the penalty when Gurung, who took the penalty shot, hit the goal post.
With the title, Dharan received Rs 50,000 cash, trophy, medal and certificates while, first runner-up Embryo Academy received Rs 25,000 cash with Medal, Trophy and Certificates.
Sandesh Subba of Embryo Academy was adjudged Man-of-the-match and received Rs 2,000 cash.
Similarly, Aayush Gurung was announced Player of the tournament and received Rs 3,000. Embryo’s Komal Thapa, ANFA Academy’s Unish Budhathoki, Ashim Jung Karki, and Krishal Moktan were adjudged best forward, best defence, best midfielder and best goalkeeper respectively of the event. They received Rs 3,000 cash each.
Ayush Gurung and Komal Thapa both were the top scorer of the tournament with 5 goals to their name earning them both Rs 1,500 each.
Likewise, coach Suman Shrestha was presented with Rs 5,000 cash as the best coach of the competition.
A total of 10 football academy from Province 1 had taken part in the tournament.
