DHANGADHI: Mahendranagar United, Kathmandu kings have secured victories during the third edition of Ruslan Dhangadhi Premier League at Fapla International Cricket Stadium in Dhangadhi on Sunday.

In the last round of the competition, Sarad Vesawkar led Mahendranagar United secured first win of the competition. With this victory, MU have accumulated four points including two points from two rain washed out games and kept their hopes alive of advancing into the next round depending on other teams results.

Due to rain, the match was reduced to six overs each. CYC Attariya skipper Dipendra Sing Airee won the toss and opted to bat first before posting 54/5 on board. In reply, Mahendranagar United cantered to seven-wicket victory with two balls to spare.

MU’s Sagar Dhakal was pick-of-the-bowlers with 1-0-9-2. Later, Dhakal was awarded man of the match for his match-winning spell.

In another match today, Kathmandu Kings thrashed Rupanedhi Challengers by 100 runs to boost their chance of securing top spot in the six teams standings. After four rounds of the games, Kings have accumulated seven points from three wins and a point from rain washed-out match.

Kings captain Gyanendra Mall won the toss and opted to bat first before posting 133/7 in their allotted 20 overs. However, in reply, Rupandehi Challengers were bundled out for a meagre 33 in 15.1 overs.

Kings foreign recruit Ankit Dabbas top-scored for the team with 43 runs off 40 balls studded with one four and three sixes.

Bikram Sob, Puneet Mehra and Anil Kharel took two wickets each.

In reply, Challengers were bowled out for the lowest total of the competition. None of its batsmen managed to hit double-digit score in a humiliating defeat.

Nandan Yadav took three wickets, Lalit Naryana Rajbanshi and Surya Tamang shared four wickets between them. Man-of-the-match Ankit Dabas also claimed a wicket in the match.
