DHULIKHEL: Kavre District Football Association defeated NIBL Friends Club 3-0 on penalties in the opening match of the first Kavre Gold Cup here today. The match was decided in tie-breaker after both the teams were deadlocked at 2-2 in regulation time.

Kaname Kosima put Friends ahead twice, while Samir Khadka levelled the scores for Kavre on both occasions.

In tie-breaker, Uman Budhathoki, Ruman Shrestha and Sanim Tusuju scored for the hosts, while Kavre goalkeeper Dipesh Shrestha saved shots from Bikash Lama, Kaname Kosima and Manish Khadka.

Custodian Shrestha was named the man of the match. On Monday, Jawalakhel Youth Club will take on Sindhupalchowk FA. A total of 10 teams including six A division clubs are taking part in the first tournament.
