SAG Women’s Football: India defend title with a 2-0 win, Nepal settle for silver

KATHMANDU: India have defeated hosts Nepal in the women’s football final securing yet another gold at the ongoing South Asian Games.

MG Baladevi had scored a goal for India in the 18th minute giving the defending champions an early lead in the first half. Baladevi struck with a second goal in the 55th minute shaking hopes of Nepal to earn a gold in the event.

Nepal failed to produce any goals despite having come across a couple of chances.

The match was held at the Pokhara Stadium.

India are leading the South Asian Games medal tally with a huge margin at the moment. The mega sporting event will see its closing ceremony on December 10.
