KATHMANDU: Kashmira Shah won the selection tournament organised by Nepal Golf Association for the 13th South Asian Games, here at the Gokarna Golf Club on Tuesday.

Shah, who was third after the first round, played 10-over 82 on the second day to post the 36-hole total of 171 and won the event by two strokes.

Overnight leader Rabina Shrestha slipped to second after she shot 20-over 92 in the second round, while Sushma Sigdel finished third at 180 after playing a round of 89.

The top three golfers earned berths in the women’s team for the SA Games scheduled for December 1-10 in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur.

Prativa Rai missed the cut by one shot after she played 93 in the second round. Tara Karki was expelled after she crossed the limit of 100 in the first round.

The first round was played at Tribhuvan Army Officers Golf Club on Monday.

A total of five golfers took part in the selection tournament. The NGA has selected five golfers in men’s team and they are undergoing close camp training.
