Lalitpur, November 28

Himalayan Sherpa Club defeated Machhindra Football Club 2-0 for their third straight victory in the Pulsar Martyrs Memorial A Division League here at the ANFA Complex grounds today.

Ashish Gurung and Karna Limbu scored on either half to seal victory. Gurung put Sherpa ahead in the 21st minute when he headed home following a corner from Goha Patrick.

Limbu missed twice in the space of five minutes. Limbu’s attempt went above the bar in the 23rd minute and he failed to give proper direction to the ball four minutes later.

Machhindra came close to levelling the scores in the 54th minute and Khamir Gilson did put the ball into the nets but only to be ruled offside.

Limbu then sealed the victory with his third goal of the league. Unmarked Limbu scored from close range with a flick header.

Sherpa accumulated 10 points from four matches and moved to third position. Machhindra have two points. Signature Manang Marshyangdi Club are at the top with 12 points, while Sherpa and Tribhuvan Army Club have 10 each.

In another match, Grand Master Jawalakhel Youth Club and NIBL Friends Club opened their accounts following a 3-3 draw in the last match of the fourth round.

Bikash Lama, Fofana Brahiman and Dhiraj Shrestha scored one goal each for Friends, while Aruj Singh, FodeFafana and Suman Dangol netted one goal apiece for Jawalakhel.

After the fourth round, Jawalakhel are at the 12 position, ahead of Friends on better goal difference. New Road Team, who also have one point, are at the bottom of the 24-team league, which does not have the provision of relegation.
