Tribhuvan Army Club defeated New Horizon Butwal by 59 runs to win the Wai Wai Karnali Premier League at the Kalinchowk grounds in Surkhet today.

Batting first, the defending champions TAC posted 146- 6 in their allotted 20 overs before packing New Horizon for a paltry 87 runs with nine balls to spare in the third edition of the tournament.

Hari Bahadur Chauhan top scored for TAC with 56 runs, while Raju Rijal scored 34 and Bhim Sharki remained unbeaten on 21 runs. Bikash Shrestha took two wickets for New Horizon, while Rahul Prajapati, Bipin Khatri and Akhilesh Yadav claimed one each.

In reply, New Horizon batsmen faltered and they failed to build partnerships.

Bishal Sunuwar top scored for the team with 26 runs, while Nischal Chaudhary was the second best with 19 runs.

TAC bowlers Jitendra Mukhiya and Sahab Alam claimed three wickets each, while Susan Bhari grabbed two wickets. TAC’s Hari Bahadur Chaudhan was named the man of the match. Champions TAC received Rs 500,000, while New Horizon got Rs 200,000.

New Horizon skipper Shakti Prasad Gauchan was declared the best player of the tournament and he earned Rs 50,000. Rabindra Jung Shahi of Karnali-XI was named the best batsman and TAC’s Susan Bhari was adjudged the best bowler.

Shahi and Bhari received Rs 20,000 each.

A total of eight teams took part in the tournament organised by Karnali Cricket Academy under the sponsorship of Wai Wai, a product of Chaudhary Group.
