Pokhara, February 17

Thamel United won the title of the third Kunwar Brothers and Sons National Veteran Basketball Tournament to win the trophy for the third consecutive year here at the Pokhara Stadium courts today.

The two-time defending champions Thamel United defeated Kaski District Basketball Association 64-48 in the final match. Champions Thamel United received Rs 55,555, while runners-up Kaski got Rs 33,333 along with trophies, medals and certificates.

Rabin Shahi of Kaski was adjudged the most valuable player of the tournament, while Karma Gurung of United was the highest scorer. A total of six teams took part in the tournament organised by Kaski District Basketball Association under the auspices of Pokhara Metropolitan City.

Nepal Police SSP Narottam Lal Pradhan, Nepal Basketball Association vice-president Jum Prasad Gurung, Founder President of Regional Volleyball Association among others handed over the prizes to the winners.

Meanwhile, organisers felicitated former vice-president of Nepal Basketball Association and president of Nepal Sevena-Side Nabin Pun during the closing ceremony of the event.
