Kathmandu, June 9

Nepal APF Club defeated Nepal Police Club by nine runs in the rain-affected semi-final match of the Prime Minister Cup One Day Cricket Tournament here at the TU Stadium today.

Batting first, APF were bowled out for 208 runs in 48.5 overs, while NPC — chasing a revised target of 141 runs in 28 overs — managed 131-9. The departmental derby was stopped by rain at a time when NPC were 59-2 in 14.4 overs. NPC received the revised target and they managed 72 runs in 13.2 overs for the loss of seven wickets.

Anil Sah top scored for APF with 45 runs, while Prithu Baskota scored 40. Rohit Kumar Paudel (32), Pradeep Airee (24) and Subash Khakurel (21) also chipped in valuable runs for APF. Dipendra Singh Airee was the pick of the NPC bowlers taking three wickets, while Lalit Rajbanshi claimed two.

In reply, No 7 batsman Kushal Bhurtel was the top scorer with 30 runs, while opener Sunil Dhamala scored 24. Dilip Nath (16), Dipendra Singh Airee (14), skipper Manjeet Shrestha (11) and Siddhant Lohani (10) also got starts but they failed to convert them into big knocks.

Amar Singh Routela picked up three wickets for APF and also earned the man-of-the-match award, while skipper Basant Regmi claimed two. Kamal Singh Airee and Karan KC pocketed one wicket each.

In Monday’s final, APF will play against TAC, who defeated Province5 by nine runs in the first semi-final match. Top two teams will get two million rupees and one million rupees respectively.  The player of the series will earn Rs 100,000.
