Dish Media extends deal with NSJF

Kathmandu, June 14

Dish Media Network Limited and Nepal Sports Journalists Forum today extended the sponsorship agreement for the Pulsar Sports Award slated for July 2 at the Nepal Academy.

Dish Media Network Managing Director Sudeep Acharya and NSJF President Durga Nath Subedi exchanged the memorandum amidst a signing ceremony. As per the MoU, Dish Media Network will provide the NSJF with Rs 1.1 million for the award. In return, Action Sports — a sports channel run by Dish Media Network — will be one of the two main co-sponsors of the programme.

Dish Media Network MD Acharya lauded NSJF’s efforts in honouring athletes and said his company was proud to be one of the partners of the programme. “We are into the ninth year of the association and I hope we will continue to support for many more years,” said Acharya. “We opened the Action Sports with the aim of contributing in the sports sector and to some extent we have succeeded in doing so. Together we can do a lot of things for the betterment of sports sector,” he added.

Dish Media Network will provide the NSJF with Rs 700,000 in cash and Rs 400,000 worth kind — one each Dish Home Set Top Box with two-year free subscription to the 10 winners and STB with one-year recharge card to 20 nominees.

NSJF President Subedi thanked Dish Media Network for supporting the award as one of the key sponsors. “We are just the organisers of the award and we are happy that corporate houses are taking the ownership. We had decided to make two main co-sponsors and we got Dish Media Network — as in association with — and Kiran Shoes Manufacturers — as powered by. A lot of corporate houses have joined the award and we are committed to take it to a new height,” he added.

The 16th edition of the Award features 10 categories and the winners of male, female, coach and people’s choice will receive Pulsar NS160 motorcycle each. The youth, para-athlete, special, lifetime achievement, team of the year and Asian journalist winners will get Rs 50,000 apiece.

NSJF has already signed the title sponsorship agreement with Hansraj Hulaschand and Company Limited — the authorised distributor of Pulsar motorcycles in Nepal, while National Sports Council, Nepal Olympic Committee, Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd, THT LIVE, Kelme Nepal, Avenues Khabar, Royal Singi Hotel, Timex and Emaging are the co-sponsors and partners of the award programme.
