GAIGHAT: Gorkha Boys Club of Butwal beat the hosts Gaighat-11 4-1 and entered into the final of ongoing sixth Udayapur Gold Cup here on Thursday.
With this comprehensive victory, GBC will play against the APF team in the title showdown on Saturday.
GBC’s Sushil Kumar Yadav scored as early as in the second minute of the game before African player Daniel doubled the tally in the 17th minute.
Five minutes later, Fofana scored his first and team’s third before scoring his brace in the 80th minute of the second half in a one-sided affair at the waterlogged pitch today.
The hosts striker Sunil Khadka scored a consolation goal in the 68th minute. In the closing stage, the hosts poured men forward in search of goals but to no avail.
Later, GBC’s Fofana was declared man of the match for his overall performance and bagged a cash purse of Rs 7,000 along with a medal and certificate.
During the post-match press conference, Gaighat-11 head coach Kiran Karki said, we played well against the strong team despite leaking goals. “It took us a while to understand their game plan and failed to gain our momentum in the crucial fixture.”
Although we created numerous scoring chances but failed to capitalise them, Karki lamented.
Similarly, winning team’s head coach Jaguna Khadka said we played attractive football and hope to repeat the same level of performance in the final as well.
