Southampton are searching for their third manager in nine months after sacking Mark Hughes following a dismal run of three wins in 22 league matches.

Saints’ former goalkeeper and first-team coach Kelvin Davis will take interim charge, including Wednesday’s trip to Tottenham Hotspur, though the club hope to have appointed a new manager in time for Saturday’s trip to Cardiff City. Quique Sanchez Flores, the former Watford manager, is understood to be among the names of interest to Southampton, while the club previously distanced themselves from reports linked with the Portuguese Paulo Sousa.
