- Manager claims offside Ethan Pinnock was interfering with play
- ‘Suddenly you change the rules,’ says Arteta after 1-1 draw
Mikel Arteta complained bitterly that Ivan Toney’s equaliser for Brentford ought to have been disallowed for offside after Arsenal failed to bounce back from last Saturday’s defeat at Everton with a win.
Toney’s goal followed a deep free-kick which he himself sent back across the Arsenal area before it was returned by the substitute Yoane Wissa, who was beyond the far post. Ethan Pinnock rose to nod through for Christian Nørgaard, who hooked back for Toney to score, but there was controversy when the VAR, Lee Mason, spotted that Pinnock was offside from the initial free-kick.
