KATHMANDU: Liverpool’s prolific striker Mohamed Salah, who scored record breaking 32 goals in 38-match English Premier League 2017–18 season, has won the golden boot award.

Salah’s tally is a new record for a 38-game EPL campaign, eclipsing the previous mark of 31 goals achieved by Luis Suarez, Alan Shearer and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Mohamed Salah has scored 44 goals in 51 appearances in all competition in his debut season for the club.

He could add more to his tally against Real Madrid in the Champions League final on May 26 in Kiev, Ukraine. Liverpool have won the competition five times in their history.

Egyptian forward Salah, who had moved to Liverpool from Roma in Italy, not only scored his 32nd goal in the last fixture of the campaign but also ensured Liverpool occupy in top four finish and Champions League qualification next season.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, who had won two consecutive golden boot award,  just fell two goals behind Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and failed to claim third Premier League Golden Boot award.

Harry scored 30 league goals one more then last year.

Man City Sergio Aguero continued his goal scoring instinct with 21 goals, Leicester City Jamie Vardy hit 20 goals, Man City Raheem Sterling notched 18 goals followed by Liverpool’s Roberto Firmino’s 15 goals this season.
