KATHMANDU: The organisers on Thursday postponed the Nepal Basketball League citing busy sports schedule.

The biggest and longest basketball tournament of the country, organised by Play for Deprived Children Nepal, will now be held from April 27.

“We have decided to postpone the tournament as it clashed with the eighth National Games,” said Play for Deprived Children Nepal President Arun Karki.

A total of eight teams will take part in the tournament which will be played under home and away format. “As the NBL is a 55-day tournament, everyone involved needs adequate rest,” Karki said.

After 68 league matches, top four teams will advance to playoffs. Top two teams will play the first qualifier and the winners will advance to final.

Next two will fight in the eliminator and the winners will face the losing team of qualifier for a place in the final.

Top two teams of the tournament will earn Rs 200,000 and Rs 100,000 respectively.
