KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club defeated Tribhuvan Army Club in straight sets to win the title of the Prakash Dahal Memorial National Volleyball Tournament here on Saturday.

NPC registered a 25-22, 25-22, 25-22 victory to lift the trophy along with Rs 500,000 — the highest cash prize in Nepali volleyball. TAC got Rs 300,000, while third-placed Gandaki and fourth-placed Nepal APF Club earned Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.

Dhana Bahadur Bhatta of TAC was named the player of tournament, while Gandaki’s Yam Chhetry won the best blocker’s award. NPC players Em Rana Magar (setter), Kil Bahadur Thapa (spiker), Dwarika Thapa (server), Bhim Magar (defender) and Saroj Shrestha (coach) also won individual awards.
