KATHMANDU: Nepali woman golfer Pratima Sherpa made a disastrous start in the Island Resort Championship at the Sweetgrass Golf Club in Harris, Michigan on Saturday.

Playing at sponsor’s exemption quota, the Nepali amateur golfer Sherpa shot two-over 38 on the front nine and faltered to eight-over 44 on the latter half in the event under the Symetra Tour which is regarded as the Road to LPGA.

She made a bright start saving pars on the first three holes before carding a birdie on the fourth. After saving another par on the fifth, Sherpa faced bogeys on the sixth, seventh and ninth holes. On the back nine, Sherpa saved three straight pars before facing to consecutive bogeys.

She then suffered to double bogeys on the 15th and 16th and faced a triple bogey seven on the 17th hole.

Sherpa ended the round with a birdie on the final hole. This is the second event under Symetra Tour for Sherpa, who made the debut at the IOA Championship in California two months ago.
