POKHARA: Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) beat Himalayan Sherpa Club (HSC) 3-1 and advanced into semi-finals of the ongoing 17th Aaha Rara Gold Cup here at the Pokhara Stadium on Sunday.

Despite going a goal down, TAC scored three late goals to thrash HSC at the full house today.

Man-of-the-match Nawayug Shrestha scored two and his strike partner George Prince Karki notched another in the dying minutes of the game. HSC’s foreign striker Patrick Goha had opened the scoring in the 27th minute in an entertaining fixture.

Shrestha equalised with a sublime header in the 71st minute before scoring his brace five minutes later. Karki sealed the game for the departmental team with a stoppage-time strike.

During a post-match presentation, TAC head coach Navin Neupane said, “We did not play well as we would have liked to in the first half. However, we improved our play in the second half and scored three goals to turn the game in our favour.

Three Star Club will take on United Sikkim team in the last quarter-final game tomorrow at the Pokhara Stadium, the organiser said.
