LAMJUNG: The hosts, Triveni Youth Club, lifted the title of the 27th Triveni Cup held in Besisahar, district headquarters, of Lamjung district on Friday.

With the home supporters behind them, TYC’s foreign recruit African player Mensah scored the only goal of the match to defeat Sundar Bazar in the final of the ongoing Trevni Cup today.

With the title, the winning team bagged a cash purse of Rs 3,00,000 along with medals and certificates. Likewise, the runner-up team collected certificates, medals and Rs 1,50,000 in cash.

Two best semi-finalist teams–BYC and ANFA Kaski-11 were given Rs 50,000 each.

Later, TYC’s Somraj Gurung was adjudged man of the match for his scintillating performance in the title decider game at the Sahaji Ground in Besisahar.

TYC’s Mensah struck five goals during the tournament and claimed the title of top scorer award. Similarly, TYC’s goalkeeper Babin Malla was declared the best player of the tournament.

20 teams from various districts participated in the competition, organisers said.
