KATHMANDU: Manang Marsyangdi Club and Sankata Club have secured victories during their Pulsar Martyr’s Memorial ‘A’ Division League in Kathmandu, on Saturday.

MMC beat Saraswoti Youth Club 2-0 and Sankata defeated Chyasal Youth Club 2-1 today.

With the victories, MMC have maintained their winning streak to five games in a row and top the 14-team table with fifteen points. Sankata have climbed to third in the chart with twelve points behind Three Star Club on a goal difference.

Sankata took a lead in the 23rd minute of the game through a penalty kick after Chyasal defender Chhiring Gurung’s handball in the box, at the APF’s ground in Halchowk.

Amit Tamang cooly slotted the ball home after sending goalie a wrong way. After the restart, Elon Maxwell scored on the 48th minute to double the team’s tally.

However, Chyasal pulled a goal back in the 87th minute via penalty kick.

Sankata’s Nitin Thapa was awarded man of the match and collected a cash purse of Rs 10,000.

In another game of the day, MMC’s Anjan Bista scored a brilliant thumping left-footed volley from 18-yard as a diving goalie could do nothing but watch the ball sail over and into the left top corner of the post in the 55th minute of the game.

Despite a protest from SYC players for a handball lead-up to the goal referee awarded the goal to an unstoppable MMC at the APF’s ground in Halchowk.

Moments later, Afeez Olaweleoladipo scored another goal in the 68th minute to give an unaccessible 2-0 lead to the league leader.
