Nepal to chase 190-run for victory vs Netherlands in maiden ODI

KATHMANDU: Nepal restricted the Netherlands for 189 runs during their maiden One Day International cricket played at the Amstelveen Ground in Amsterdam today.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first to exploit home condition, however, their innings folded for a meagre 189 runs all out in 47.4 overs of allotted 50 overs game.

Nepal’s skipper Paras Khadka and seamer Sompal Kami shared seven wickets in between them to restrict the hosts to 189 runs. Khadka was the pick-of-the-bowler with 10-0-26-4. Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichanne and Basanta Regmi chipped in with a wicket each.

Sompal Kami became the first Nepali bowler to take ODI wicket be hitting the timber of Daniel teer Braak in his opening spell.

At one stage the Dutch were reeling at 72-4, Bas de Leede and Rippon combined for 68 runs partnership for the fifth wicket to reprive the innings to post a decent total on board. Leede hit 30 runs.

Michael Rippon anchored the innings with a fighting 51 runs in 76 deliveries with two hit to the fence.
