KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club athlete Rajan Rokaya won the title of the first Open Marathon organised by Rishing Rural Municipality in Damauli on Monday.

Rokaya finished the 42.195km distance in two hours, 51 minutes and 26 seconds to finish first ahead of fellow TAC athlete Nawaraj Saud (2:51:50) and Solukhumbu’s Suman Kulung (2:57:50).

Top three athletes received Rs 65,000, Rs 40,000 and Rs 25,000 respectively. A total of 102 athletes took part in the event. Former Minister Shankar Bhandari and Rishing Rural Municipality Chairman Rajendra Krishna Shrestha handed over the prizes to the winners.
