KATHMANDU: Rabina Shrestha took lead after the first round of the selection tournament for the golf tournament under the South Asian Games, here at the Tribhuvan Army Officers Golf Club on Monday.

Shrestha played a round of 13-over 81 and was seven strokes ahead of Prativa Rai, who shot 88. Kashmira Shah was third at 21-over 89, while Sushma Sigdel played 23-over 91. Tara Karki shot 101.

The golfers will play the second and final round at the Gokarna Golf Club on Tuesday. The NGA will select three women golfers for the 13th SA Games slated for December 1-10 in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Janakpur.

The NGA has selected five golfers in the men’s team and will announce the four-member squad for the regional meet in due course.
