Jigme Dorjee Wangchuk Memorial Gold Cup

Kathmandu, February 20

Ruslan Three Star Club advanced to the final of the Jigme Dorjee Wangchuk Memorial Gold Cup in Phuntsoling, Bhutan today.

The Nepali A Division outfit defeated United Bothers of Bhutan 3-2 in the second semi-final match.

Three Star will now face Paro FC in the final. Paro had defeated another Nepali A division side, Tribhuvan Army Club 1-0 in the first semi-final match on Tuesday. The final is on Friday.

In the second semi-final match, Dinesh Rajbanshi,

Ranjan Bista and Buddha Chemjong scored one each for Three Star. Bishista Subba and Sonam Lepcha netted one apiece goal for the home side.

Rajbanshi put Three Star ahead in the 24th minute before Bista doubled the tally four minutes later. The home side cut the deficit in the 39th minute through Bishista Subba’s goal. Chemjong then restored the two-goal lead in the 82nd minute.

United Brothers earned a penalty in the injury time after Peter Segun handled the ball inside the danger area and Sonam Lepcha converted from the spot.
