Kathmandu, March 25

Tri-Chandra and Himalayan won their matches of the Golden Gate College Cricket League here at the TU Stadium today.

Tri-Chandra defeated Nepal Bon College by 89 runs, while Himalayan beat Nepal Commerce College by 12 runs. Batting first, Tri-Chandra posted 173-6 in their allotted 20 overs before packing Bon for 89 runs in 19 overs.

Opener Dilip Nath scored 42 off just 23 balls hitting three each fours and sixes, while Prajwal Shahi scored 25-ball 35 that included four boundaries and a six. Puran BK remained unbeaten on 45 off 35 balls with the help of five boundaries.

In reply, Bon were all out for 84 runs for their second straight defeat. Jay Saud top scored for the teams with 14, while Ahmad and Chhedup Lama contributed 12 runs each. Sagar Bhandari of Tri-Chandra was the chief destroyer taking 6-9 from three overs and that also earned him the man-of-the-match award. Irshad Ahmed, Dilip Nath, Sohan Yadav and Puran BK bagged one wicket each.

With the second straight defeat, Bon College crashed out of the group stage.

In the day’s first match, Himalayan scored 136-9 in 20 overs before restricting NCC to 124-5. Opener Dinesh Adhikari top scored for Himalayan with 27 off 23 balls hitting three fours and six, while Pankaj Das struck a four and two sixes in his 20-ball 22.

Man-of-the-match Rupesh Singh remained unbeaten on 18 off 11 balls that included a four, while Aschal Chaudhary (18) and Suman Gahatraj also scored in double figures. Bhuvan Karki took 3-19 for NCC, while Pawan Karki bagged two wickets.

Chasing a modest target, NCC made a flying start with openers Amit Shrestha and Sushanta Timalsina adding 71 runs in 11 overs but they faltered in the latter stage. NCC needed 23 runs from the last two overs to win the match but they managed just eight from the 19th over and two from the final over.

Shrestha top scored with 46 off 35 balls hitting seven fours and a six, while Timalsina scored 40-ball 27 and Basant Khatri scored 22 off 17 balls.

Mayank took two wickets for Himalayan.
