KATHMANDU: Deepshikha Youth Group is organising the second Roj Bahini Chandragiri Gold Cup Football Tournament at the Naikap grounds from Sunday.
A total of eight teams are taking part in the tournament. Tribhuvan Army Club, Jawalakhel Youth Club, Deepshikha, Saraswoti Youth Club are in Group A, while Friends Club, Nepal APF Club, Birgunj United and Chyasal Youth Club are in Group B, informed the organisers at a press meet. TAC will take on Jawalakhel in the opening match of the knock out tournament.
The title winners will get Rs 600,000, while the runners-up will earn Rs 300,000. Defending champions Himalayan Sherpa Club are not taking part in the tournament. “We approached them and the officials refused to take part saying they needed time for the management of the club,” said event convenor and former national team member Ramesh Budhathoki.
