KATHMANDU: President of Cricket Association of Blind Nepal, Pawan Ghimire has been elected as the Treasurer of World Blind Cricket Council here on Tuesday.

Ghimire defeated India’s John David during the 21st electoral general assembly of the Council held from Dec 10-11 in Kathmandu. Mahantesh GK of India was elected the President, while Syed Salman Bukhari of Pakistan and Chaminda Pushpa Kumara were elected first and second vice-presidents respectively.

Likewise, Raymond Moxly of Australia was elected as General Secretary. Armand Bam of South Africa and Maher Yusuf Haroon of Pakistan were nominated as Global Development Director and Technical Director respectively. Representatives of eight countries — Nepal, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Australia, South Africa and England — took part in the assembly of the world governing body of blind cricket, World Blind Cricket Limited.

The assembly also decided to give recognition to women’s blind cricket and thanked Nepal for playing key role in taking the women blind cricket to international arena.
